Lourdes comes from a Mexican migrant family
and she and her older sister were the first ones in her family
to attend college. Lourdes writes that participating in the
Stanford Quest Program changed her life, offering opportunities
she did not think possible such as attending Stanford. While
at Stanford she studied International Relations, focusing
on the economics and politics of the European Union and Italy.
Lourdes graduated in 1999 and continued on to the Maxwell
School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University
to earn her Master's in International Relations in 2002. Shortly
after graduation, Lourdes married and moved to live in Italy
to work alongside her husband Stefano in a company called
WebPromoter, which
specializes in Search Engine Marketing services for their
