Emily is an idealistic young woman who brings her boundless enthusiasm to everything she attempts. Her passion for gaining insight into the world and her joy in conversing with intelligent people led her to Stanford - even though she swore she would never attend a university so close to home - and to Quest. Eager to try anything with a smile, she completed her freshman year in 2004, using the opportunity to take in classes everything from multivariable calculus and introductory sociology to autocratic governments and household, mechanical objects. Despite her diverse interests, Emily hopes to turn her belief in the incredible potential of society into a focus on public policy and the creation of better societal institutions. She looks forward to finding a career that will strengthen her intelligence, work ethic and optimism. In the mean time, however, she develops these skills by tutoring children in East Palo Alto and promoting community service in any way she can. She is also a musical theatre enthusiast and has been involved her whole life in both student and community theatre.
